What Are Sinuses?

Sinuses are air-filled spaces or cavities within the skull that are lined with mucous membranes3.

The tiny hairs (cilia) in the sinuses make sure mucis gets dispelled3. But an increase in mucus production due to viral, bacteria or fungal infections can block the sinuses3, which leads to sinusitis.
